This week, Northern Nevada is set for an electrifying showdown as we preview the state championship games for 5A football. Each matchup boasts competitive squads eager for glory.

5A-II Championship:
On Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at McQueen High, Faith Lutheran faces Bishop Manogue in a highly anticipated rematch from last year’s state title game, won by the Miners 40-21. After finishing their league schedule undefeated, Faith Lutheran edged past Shadow Ridge in a nail-biting overtime semifinal. Meanwhile, Bishop Manogue’s formidable offense, led by RB Pele Masina, who averages 92 rushing yards per game, positions them as favorites. With a strong defense, Faith Lutheran’s Ricky Manning will be pivotal in their quest for revenge. Prediction: Bishop Manogue 35, Faith Lutheran 31.

5A-III Championship:
Monday at noon at Bishop Gorman High, Galena (undefeated in league play) battles Centennial, who makes its debut at this level after winning the Class 4A title last season. Galena’s quarterback Colson Kermode, a dual-threat athlete, looks to redeem his performance from last year’s final. Centennial has surged recently, winning their last five matches. Prediction: Galena 35, Centennial 24.

Truckee vs. SLAM Academy:
On Tuesday at 12:20 p.m. at Allegiant Stadium, Truckee aims for a three-peat against SLAM Academy. With two previous victories against SLAM, Truckee seeks to extend its 35-game winning streak. Both teams come off impressive seasons, making this an exciting rematch. Prediction: Truckee 42, SLAM Academy 35.

Incline vs. Pershing County:
Finally, on Saturday at 10 a.m. at McQueen High, two undefeated teams—Incline and Pershing County—clash for the title. This battle of titans promises high-scoring action, with Pershing averaging over 50 points per game. Prediction: Pershing County 35, Incline 34.
