The International Criminal Court (ICC) has issued arrest warrants related to crimes against humanity and war crimes committed in Gaza, including the war crime of starvation as a method of warfare and intentionally directing attacks against the civilian population. Former Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Benny Gantz were found to have knowingly deprived the civilian population in Gaza of essential items for survival, hindering humanitarian organizations’ ability to provide aid. Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar, who was killed in Gaza, and alleged architect of attacks Muhammad Deif, were also targeted with arrest warrants. The ICC initially sought warrants for other Hamas figures, but withdrew them following confirmation of their deaths. ICC Chief Prosecutor Karim A.A. Khan had previously announced the filing of applications for arrest warrants for these individuals. This is an ongoing situation, with updates expected.
