Record Voter Participation Marks Success of 2024 Election Cycle in Nevada
LAS VEGAS, NV – Nevada Secretary of State Francisco Aguilar announced significant achievements for the 2024 election cycle, reporting record-breaking voter turnout and registration figures. In a statement, Aguilar acknowledged, “everything wasn’t perfect,” but emphasized the progress made, with over two million residents registered to vote. Remarkably, 73 percent of registered voters participated in the election.
The breakdown of voting methods showed a robust preference for mail-in ballots, with 45 percent of voters choosing this option. Early voting attracted 37 percent of participants, while 18 percent cast their votes on Election Day. As part of the effort to support this electoral process, more than 3,000 volunteers signed up to serve as poll workers, aided by a new recruitment website targeting potential workers, including high school students.
Aguilar highlighted the positive impact of the recently passed Election Worker Protection Act, designed to ensure the safety of poll workers. He reported that there were no incidents necessitating the act’s enforcement during the election, further reflecting the effective handling of the event.
“Election workers are truly the unsung heroes of democracy, and we can’t thank them enough,” Aguilar remarked, recognizing the dedication of those involved in both the preparation and execution of the elections.
Looking ahead, the Nevada Supreme Court is set to certify the election results on November 26, with the Electoral College convening on December 17. The state’s commitment to facilitating civic engagement and enhancing the electoral process remains evident as officials work towards future elections.
