After nine seasons, Wooster High’s football coach, Bo Sellers, announces his resignation

After nine seasons as the head coach of the Wooster football program, Bo Sellers has decided to step down. Sellers, who also served as a varsity assistant at Reno, Wooster, and Bishop Manogue, compiled a 24-51 record during his tenure at Wooster. Sellers cited a desire to spend more time with his family and pursue a second master’s degree in administration as reasons for his decision.

Sellers, whose father Joe was also a successful football coach, expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to restore respectability to the Wooster program and emphasized the importance of family and personal growth. He emphasized that his focus will now be on supporting his own children’s athletic pursuits.

In a similar move, Sparks High football head coach Kurt Kaufman has also announced his resignation after three seasons with the Railroaders. Kaufman, who previously served as Reed High’s defensive line coach, expressed his appreciation for the opportunity to work with the students at Sparks High and his excitement for future coaching opportunities.

Both Sellers and Kaufman emphasized the impact of coaching on the development of young athletes and the importance of instilling values such as accountability and work ethic through football. While Sellers reflected on his time at Wooster with fondness and pride, Kaufman expressed enthusiasm for the challenges and rewards of the coaching profession as he looks towards the future.
