Free Health Screenings Offered in Southwest Arkansas Through UAMS Events
Residents of southwest Arkansas are invited to take advantage of free medical screenings and health resources at two upcoming events hosted by the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS).
On Friday, November 22, UAMS will present "Filling the Health Care Gaps in Nevada County" in Rosston. Running from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Nevada County School District, the event will provide a range of complimentary health tests, including screenings for lung, breast, prostate, and colorectal cancers. Attendees can also access confidential testing for HIV, sexually transmitted diseases, and hepatitis C. Additional health information will be available on managing emergency situations, mental health, COVID-19, heart health, and opioid awareness. Those attending can enjoy complimentary hotdogs, chips, water, popcorn, and cotton candy, along with chances to win door prizes.
The second event, "What a Thankful Day," will take place on Saturday, November 23, at the Prescott Gap Services Office from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. This event marks World AIDS Day and will feature free, confidential HIV testing, connecting patients to available care. Attendees can also explore HIV and STD prevention materials and receive general health screenings. Complimentary hot plates with sliced pork, beef, or chicken will be served, while supplies last.
Both events are free and open to the public, reinforcing UAMS’s commitment to community health through comprehensive resources and support. As the state’s only health sciences university, UAMS plays a vital role in providing essential medical services across Arkansas and fostering health education and awareness.
