Fatal Crash on South Virginia Street Prompts Investigation
Reno, NV—A tragic accident Saturday night resulted in one fatality and significant disruption on South Virginia Street. At approximately 11:00 p.m., the Reno Police Department, along with local fire and medical teams, responded to a multi-vehicle crash at the intersection of South Virginia Street and Kietzke Lane.
Three cars, each with a single occupant, were involved in the collision. Medical personnel declared one driver dead at the scene. The Reno Police Department (RPD) indicated that speed and negligence regarding traffic signals contributed to the incident, and they are conducting a thorough investigation to assess whether intoxication played a role.
The identity of the deceased has not yet been released, pending notification of their next of kin. Officers from the Major Accident Investigation Team are leading the inquiry and are currently engaging with the other drivers involved, who are fully cooperating.
In response to the accident, law enforcement closed South Virginia Street in both directions between Kietzke Lane and South McCarran Boulevard, as well as the I-580 southbound off-ramp. These closures remained in effect until approximately 5:40 a.m. Sunday morning.
