Nevada’s Alford Achieves Milestone as Second NCAA D-I Coach to Win Over 100 Games with Four Different Programs

Wolf Pack Earns Dominant Victory and Celebrates Alford’s 100th Win

RENO, Nev. – The Nevada Wolf Pack showcased their strength with an impressive 85-59 victory over the Santa Clara Broncos, remaining undefeated this season. The win not only affirmed the team’s progress but also marked a significant milestone for head coach Steve Alford, who celebrated his 100th victory at Nevada. Alford joins a rare cadre of coaches, including Lefty Drisell, to achieve 100 wins at four different institutions: Iowa, New Mexico, UCLA, and Nevada.

From the outset, the Wolf Pack demonstrated their prowess, leading throughout the first half with a remarkable 63 percent shooting accuracy from the field and 62.5 percent from beyond the arc. Conversely, the Wolf Pack’s defensive strategy stifled Santa Clara’s typical three-point attack, limiting them to just 12.5 percent shooting— a season-low in both attempts and points for the Broncos.

Individually, Coleman led the Wolf Pack with 21 points and four assists, shooting an impressive 85.7 percent from the floor, including three perfect three-pointers. Notably, Love contributed robustly with 15 points, eight rebounds, and two blocks, achieving 100 percent shooting. Davidson and DuSell also made significant contributions, netting 18 points and 11 points, respectively, while maintaining high shooting percentages.

With this convincing win, the Wolf Pack gears up for their next challenge at the Shriner Children’s Charleston Classic in South Carolina, commencing with a matchup against the Vanderbilt Commodores on November 21 at 4:30 p.m. PST. The team aims to secure key quad 1 victories ahead of their non-conference schedule, marking an important phase in their season.
