Jacky Rosen keeps Senate seat in Nevada as Trump wins state | US elections 2024

Former President Donald Trump has won his sixth battleground state of the 2024 election by flipping Nevada for the Republicans, beating Kamala Harris. This victory marks the first time the GOP has won the state in a presidential election since 2004. Despite Trump’s success, Democratic US Senator Jacky Rosen was re-elected in Nevada.

With 301 electoral college votes, Trump has already secured the White House over Democratic rival Kamala Harris, having won six of the seven battleground states. The Associated Press declared Trump the winner in Nevada, as there were not enough uncounted ballots in Democratic strongholds to overcome his lead.

Rosen’s victory over a Trump-endorsed challenger provided some solace to Democrats, even as they lost their Senate majority. However, they remain hopeful of gaining a House majority. Running as an independent who does not listen to party leaders, Rosen focused on hyper-local issues and reproductive rights in her campaign.

On the other hand, Brown, a military veteran endorsed by rural Republican officials, aligned himself with Trump’s policies and received support from a Pac linked to Mitch McConnell. Despite trailing in polls and fundraising, Brown’s campaign gained momentum with last-minute ads targeting Maga voters in Nevada.

Ultimately, Rosen’s victory as a bipartisan and effective senator showcases her ability to build political consensus and bring resources to Nevada. Though the race tightened significantly before election day, Rosen’s commitment to reproductive rights and bipartisan leadership resonated with voters, securing her re-election as a US Senator.
