UNLV Rebels Triumph Over San Diego State in Dominant 41-20 Victory

LAS VEGAS—The UNLV Rebels secured a convincing 41-20 win against the San Diego State Aztecs on Saturday night at Allegiant Stadium, marking their first triumph over SDSU since 2017. This victory propelled the Rebels’ record to 8-2 overall and 4-1 in the conference under the leadership of second-year head coach Barry Odom, who has now achieved a remarkable 17-7 record at UNLV.

The Rebels showcased their offensive strength, accumulating 515 yards and establishing an early 21-0 lead by the second quarter. Quarterback Hajj-Malik Williams shone in the game, completing 20 of 29 passes for a career-high 244 yards and scoring two rushing touchdowns, along with a touchdown pass to tight end Kaleo Ballungay.

Defensively, UNLV excelled, winning the turnover battle 2-1 with two interceptions. Linebacker Jackson Woodard led the team with 14 tackles, continuing his impressive season, while safety Jalen Catalon contributed with a sack and an interception.

Key statistics highlight UNLV’s dominance in the red zone, scoring six times in eight trips, including five touchdowns, compared to SDSU’s 1-of-2 inside the Rebel 20-yard line.

Senior captain Jacob De Jesus made a significant impact, returning from injury to lead with 152 all-purpose yards. Coach Odom praised the team’s performance and highlighted the importance of the victory in the ongoing conference race.

Looking ahead, the Rebels will face San Jose State on November 22, aiming to build on their successful season. Tickets for the upcoming home finale against UNR on November 30 are available for fans eager to support the Rebels.
