Debbie Gibson to Release Memoir and Honored in Las Vegas
Pop icon Debbie Gibson, best known for her hits "Only In My Dreams" and "Foolish Beat," is currently immersed in writing her memoirs, potentially a two-volume set. Gibson, whose career spans over three decades, aims to provide an in-depth look at her life and experiences, including revelations about her relationship with her late mother, Diane Gibson. “You have not lived until you have gone through every detail of your life,” Gibson reflects on the writing process.
The Vegas resident will be celebrated as Nevada Ballet Theatre’s Woman of the Year at its 41st Annual Black & White Ball on March 29 at Encore Las Vegas. She joins the ranks of esteemed honorees including Chita Rivera, Celine Dion, and Rita Moreno. Gibson emphasizes her commitment to the local arts community and mentorship for underserved youth, recalling her own struggles as a child artist without resources.
Active in Las Vegas, Gibson is not only penning her memoir but also slated to perform the grand finale of the 2025 Rose Parade in Pasadena. With over 16 million albums sold globally, she remains a touring headliner and acclaimed stage actress, known for roles in “Les Misérables” and “Grease.”
Gibson has expressed interest in creating a residency show in Las Vegas, envisioning a personal performance that incorporates her mirrored Baldwin piano, a nod to her nostalgic roots. She believes fans desire meaningful connections to their past, especially the LGBTQ community, through music that resonates with their experiences.
As Gibson continues to balance her past and present, her forthcoming memoir promises to deliver insights into her remarkable journey and the lessons gleaned along the way.
