A suspect has been taken into custody in connection with the killing of Dustin Kjersem in Montana, after his death was initially thought to have been caused by a bear. The suspect is currently in custody on unrelated charges and is cooperating with detectives. It has been determined that the suspect acted alone and there is no threat to the community. Kjersem, 35, was found dead in his tent with multiple chop wounds in a remote area on Oct. 12. He was last seen two days earlier in an unofficial camping area where hunters, outfitters, and other individuals reside. Items were reported missing from the campsite, including a shotgun, revolver, cooler, and ax. The investigation into Kjersem’s death is ongoing, with authorities asking the public to report any information related to the case. The sheriff expressed condolences to the Kjersem family and hopes that their efforts will bring them some peace during this difficult time.
