Michael Scheuer, a former Disney employee, is accused of hacking into the company’s menu-creating software after being terminated from his job as a menu production manager at Walt Disney World. The federal criminal complaint alleges that Scheuer made unauthorized changes to menu prices and added profanity, as well as falsified allergen information on menus to indicate that certain food items did not contain peanuts when they actually did, posing a threat to public health and safety. The changes were caught before they made it to restaurants. Federal agents searched Scheuer’s home and seized four personal computers in connection to the investigation. Scheuer denied any wrongdoing, claiming that Disney was trying to frame him and that he was terminated due to his disability. His lawyer stated that no one was harmed by Scheuer’s actions and that he plans to present his side of the story vigorously. Disney has not yet responded to the allegations.
