Former President Donald Trump has been referring to CNN anchor Anderson Cooper with a woman’s first name, “Allison Cooper,” in recent days as he focuses his closing message on a hypermasculine appeal to men. Trump made the comments on social media and at rallies in Michigan and Pennsylvania, where he mocked Cooper’s name and criticized his town hall with Vice President Kamala Harris. By using a woman’s name for Cooper, Trump seemed to be playing on stereotypes of gay men as effeminate in an effort to appeal to male voters. This comes as Trump aims to boost his support among men in the final stages of his presidential campaign. Trump has also recently appeared on Joe Rogan’s podcast, popular among young men, and made controversial remarks about golfer Arnold Palmer at a rally. Neither the Trump campaign nor a representative for Cooper responded to requests for comment on the matter.
