DNC harnesses Taylor Swift’s Eras tour to rally young voters

The Democratic National Committee is leveraging Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour to encourage young people to vote for Vice President Kamala Harris in the upcoming election. Swift, who endorsed Harris in September, is set to perform in Miami Gardens, Florida, with the DNC launching a Taylor Swift-themed “I Will Vote” campaign in conjunction with her shows. The campaign includes Snapchat filters and advertisements directing young people to IWillVote.com for voting information. The DNC is focusing on reaching Gen Z voters in battleground states to help boost support for Harris and the Democratic Party ahead of Election Day.

Democrats are utilizing various platforms, including concerts and social media, to ensure young voters have the resources they need to cast their ballot and understand the importance of the election. The campaign aims to highlight the contrast between Kamala Harris’ agenda and Donald Trump’s, with advertisements appearing in Miami and other battleground states encouraging voters to embrace their “Kamala era.”

While it is unclear if Taylor Swift is directly involved in the initiative, her star power has previously led to an increase in voter registrations. In 2018, Swift’s Instagram post urging people to register to vote resulted in a surge of registrations, particularly among young people. Additionally, Swift’s endorsement of Harris on Instagram led to a significant increase in visits to vote.org. Before Swift’s endorsement, her fans had already formed the group Swifties for Kamala to support Harris’s campaign.
