Buffalo Bills acquire WR Amari Cooper in trade with Cleveland Browns

The Buffalo Bills have acquired wide receiver Amari Cooper from the Cleveland Browns in exchange for a third-round pick and a seventh-round pick in 2026. In addition, the Bills will receive a sixth-round pick in 2025. Cooper, who has 24 catches for 250 yards and two touchdowns this season, has been struggling with a career-low 10.4 yards per catch average. The Bills are currently in first place in the AFC East with a 4-2 record, but their passing attack has been underperforming, with quarterback Josh Allen averaging only 193.3 yards per game passing.

The Bills have been trying to replace the production lost from trading Stefon Diggs in the offseason, with three pass catchers having over 200 yards but nobody on pace for 1,000 yards for the season. The Browns, on the other hand, are 1-5 and have lost four straight games, with quarterback Deshaun Watson having the lowest quarterback rating among all qualifying players.

Cooper, a five-time Pro Bowl selection, set a career high in receiving yards with 1,250 in 2023. He was drafted in the first round of the 2015 NFL Draft by the Oakland Raiders before being traded to the Dallas Cowboys in 2018. In 146 career games, Cooper has amassed 9,736 yards and 62 touchdowns. The Bills, coming off a win against the New York Jets, will next play against the Tennessee Titans on Oct. 20.
