Former CCSD trustee received payment and reimbursements despite residing outside of Nevada – KLAS – 8 News Now

Former Clark County School District (CCSD) trustee, Kevin Child, reportedly continued to receive payments and expenses reimbursements from the district despite no longer living in Nevada. According to an investigation by KLAS 8 News Now, Child moved to Tonto Basin, Arizona in June 2017 but still received nearly $2,000 in salary payments and over $3,000 in expense reimbursements over the next two years.

Child served on the CCSD board from 2013 to 2018 and was known for his controversial behavior, including multiple ethics complaints and conflicts with other board members. His move to Arizona raised questions about his eligibility to continue receiving compensation from the district, which were reportedly addressed in executive sessions that were not open to the public.

The investigation also found that Child used his district-issued credit card to make over $33,000 in questionable purchases, including payments to a resort in Mexico and a gun store in Arizona. When questioned about these expenses, Child claimed they were related to his work for the district, but records showed that many of them were not approved by the board or were personal in nature.

Child’s actions have raised concerns about oversight and accountability within the CCSD, as well as the potential misuse of taxpayer funds. The district has stated that they are reviewing the findings of the investigation and taking appropriate actions to address any discrepancies.

As a former elected official, Child’s behavior has also brought attention to the importance of transparency and ethical conduct in public office. The case serves as a reminder of the need for strong oversight and accountability measures to ensure that taxpayer funds are used responsibly and in the best interest of the community.
