Chicago White Sox set new record for most losses in a single season, dropping 121st game

The Chicago White Sox suffered their 121st loss of the season on Friday, breaking the record for the most losses in a single season in MLB history previously held by the New York Mets. The team has experienced a sharp decline since winning 93 games and the AL Central division in 2021, with only 39 wins so far this season and two games remaining.

Offensive struggles have plagued the White Sox, who rank near the bottom in major statistical categories including hits, runs, home runs, batting average, RBIs, total bases, OBP, and slugging percentage. First baseman Andrew Vaughn leads the team with a .248 batting average, but the team as a whole has struggled to produce offensively.

The season got off to a rough start with a 3-22 record, the worst 25-game start in franchise history. Chicago also set a franchise record with a 21-game losing streak, becoming the first team since 1988 to achieve that feat. Despite winning nine games in May and June, the team only managed to win seven games combined in July and August.

After their latest loss, the White Sox took to social media to humorously express their desire to avoid reading negative comments. The team’s struggles have been a source of frustration for fans, as they face the disappointment of a historically bad season.
