Midfielder Rodri from Manchester City facing extended absence due to knee injury

Manchester City’s city manager, Pep Guardiola, has confirmed that midfielder Rodri has suffered a ligament injury in his right knee, which will be a big blow to the club’s performance this season. The 28-year-old Spain international sustained the injury during City’s 2-2 draw with Arsenal and will be consulting a specialist in Spain to assess the severity of the injury.

Guardiola stated that Rodri will be out for a “long time,” and the midfielder traveled to Spain for further assessment. Rodri, who was named the best player at the European Championship this year, has been a key player for City since joining from Atletico Madrid in 2019.

His absence will be a significant loss for City as they aim to win a fifth consecutive Premier League title. Guardiola acknowledged that Rodri is irreplaceable but emphasized the need for the team to find a way to remain competitive without him.

Despite the setback, City is currently at the top of the standings with 13 points from five games. Rodri’s influence on the team’s success has led to him being touted as a potential Ballon d’Or winner. The club has expressed their well wishes for his speedy recovery as they navigate the challenge of playing without one of their star players.
