WNBA stars Caitlin Clark and A’ja Wilson have been awarded the Associated Press Rookie of the Year and Player of the Year, respectively. Clark set records for most points in a season by a rookie and assists, making her professional debut for the Indiana Fever in May. She is the two-time collegiate national player of the year and the all-time leading scorer in college basketball. Wilson, on the other hand, became the fourth player in WNBA history to win Player of the Year three times and was the first player to score 1,000 points in a season. She represented Team USA in the Paris Olympics, helping the team to a victory over Japan. Wilson was unanimously chosen as the Player of the Year by the AP, acknowledging the effort and preparation she put in for the season. As a two-time Olympic gold medalist and two-time WNBA champion, Wilson has solidified her place as one of the top players in women’s basketball. Both players are looking forward to continuing their success as the WNBA playoffs begin.
