American gymnast and Olympian Stephen Nedoroscik has been announced as the first celebrity for Season 33 of “Dancing With the Stars.” The full cast will be revealed at a later date, with Alfonso Ribeiro and Julianne Hough returning as co-hosts and Carrie Ann Inaba, Bruno Tonioli, and Derek Hough returning as judges. The new season will begin on Sept. 17 at 8 p.m. on ABC and Disney+, with next-day viewing on Hulu.
Nedoroscik, known as the “pommel horse guy,” captured hearts at the Paris Olympic Games where he won a bronze medal with the U.S. Men’s Gymnastics team. He also won an individual bronze on the pommel horse. Despite living with strabismus, he uses his platform to support individuals with low vision.
During the Olympics, Nedoroscik generated Clark Kent comparison memes on social media when he removed his glasses. He explained in an interview that when competing on the pommel horse, he doesn’t see clearly but relies on feeling the equipment with his hands. His focus is on feeling rather than seeing while performing gymnastics.
Overall, Nedoroscik’s appearance on “Dancing With the Stars” is highly anticipated, and his story of overcoming challenges and inspiring others is sure to captivate audiences throughout the upcoming season.
