However, the king’s lifestyle was also captured in candid paparazzi pictures showing him holidaying with young women in Italy, shedding light on a different side to his public image.
King Farouk later went through a divorce and remarried a woman he spotted in a jewellery shop in Cairo. The six-week ceremony for his second wedding was even more elaborate and lavish than his first, showcasing the excess and opulence of the Egyptian royal family during this bygone era.
