The Nevada women’s golf team concluded its 2023-24 season with a strong performance, led by player of the year Leah John, who won three tournaments throughout the year. Despite missing out on a second NCAA Regional appearance, John’s standout performances, including a second-place finish at the Pat Lesser Harbottle Invitational, earned her second-team All-MW honors. The team finished fifth out of nine teams at the Mountain West Championships and ended the season with a 60th-percentile finish nationally.
Coach Kathleen Takaishi, who recently signed a contract extension, has established the women’s golf program as one of the Wolf Pack’s strongest teams. The roster featured young talent, with two freshmen and two sophomores showcasing their potential alongside top performer Anna Shultse. The team’s success was highlighted by its ability to overcome a poor start at the MW Championships and finish on a high note.
Looking ahead, Shultse is expected to lead the team in the next season, with support from Kane, Chindavong, Lovisa, and Sheikh. The team’s strong finish in the Clippd standings reflects the promising future of Nevada women’s golf. Despite losing a star player, the team’s overall performance and potential for growth bode well for the upcoming seasons.
