Nevada Attorney General seeks to revive fake electors case by appealing to state high court

The top prosecutor in Nevada is seeking to uphold the indictments of six Republicans who submitted a fake certificate declaring Donald Trump as the winner of the 2020 election. This was part of a larger scheme across multiple states to keep Trump in office. The case is currently in limbo as a judge ruled Las Vegas was not the correct venue for the trial and dismissed the charges. The Attorney General has filed an appeal to overturn this decision.

The defendants, including state GOP chairman Michael McDonald, are facing charges of offering a false instrument for filing and uttering a forged instrument. The defense lawyers are confident in their argument that the case was brought in the wrong location and expect the judge’s decision to be upheld.

The investigation into voter fraud in Nevada found no credible evidence of widespread fraud, despite Trump losing to Biden by over 30,000 votes. The fate of the fake electors case now rests in the hands of the Nevada Supreme Court. The court has not yet scheduled oral arguments or provided further information on the case.

The Attorney General’s office remains confident in their case and is looking forward to holding those involved accountable for their actions. The defendants could face up to four or five years in prison if convicted. The legal battle over the fake certificate submission continues in Nevada.
