Tesla’s Semi program head, Dan Priestley, recently shared a photo of the under-construction Semi factory at the company’s Nevada facility, along with a rendering of what the plant is expected to look like once completed. The new factory will add 6,500 full-time employees and is estimated to cost roughly $3.6 billion.
The construction of the Semi factory expansion began earlier this month, with deliveries of steel and other materials seen being brought to the site. The expansion project, announced last year, will also include plans for a 4680 battery cell factory on-site, adding around four million square feet of manufacturing space.
Tesla aims to start Semi production at Giga Nevada in late 2025, with initial deliveries expected for early 2026. The company has already secured partnerships with major companies like PepsiCo, Costco, Martin Brower, and Walmart for the Semi units.
During Elon Musk’s visit to Gigafactory Berlin in March, he mentioned the possibility of the German plant producing the Semi in the future. This expansion of Tesla’s manufacturing capabilities marks a significant step in the company’s efforts to dominate the electric vehicle market.
