Nevada AG Takes Fake Electors Case to State Supreme Court in Appeal Attempt

The Nevada attorney general’s office is seeking to uphold charges against six Republicans accused of submitting a fake certificate declaring Donald Trump the winner of the state’s 2020 election. The charges are part of a larger scheme across multiple battleground states to keep Trump in office after losing to Joe Biden. The case is currently in limbo as Clark County District Court Judge Mary Kay Holthus ruled that Las Vegas was the wrong venue, leading to the charges being dismissed. However, the attorney general’s office has filed an appeal, expressing confidence in their case. The defendants, including state GOP chairman Michael McDonald and Clark County GOP chairman Jesse Law, were indicted last December and face felony charges carrying a prison sentence of up to four or five years. The defense lawyers are confident in the judge’s decision and are awaiting further developments from the Nevada Supreme Court. The court clerk has not responded to requests for information on oral arguments. Despite Trump’s loss by over 30,000 votes in Nevada, no credible evidence of widespread voter fraud was found by the then-Secretary of State Barbara Cegavske, a Republican. The case against the fake electors is ongoing as legal proceedings continue.
