Israel has issued new evacuation orders in southern Gaza’s Khan Younis as it widens its ground invasion in the area. The Israeli military claims that staying in the area has become dangerous due to rockets being fired by Palestinian fighters, and that Hamas has embedded terrorist infrastructure there. This latest order comes after the displacement of at least 180,000 Palestinians in the first four days of the invasion.
The United Nations has reported that people are being forced to move to “safer” areas, despite warnings that nowhere in Gaza is truly safe. The Israeli military has been conducting air attacks, with one attack killing many people in a home on Saturday morning. The military has been issuing mass evacuation orders through leaflets, phone calls, and media broadcasts.
UN agencies have condemned Israel’s mass displacement of Gaza’s civilian population and military attacks on humanitarian “safe zones.” The Israeli military has launched attacks on areas across the enclave, including Rafah and Gaza City’s Zeitoun neighborhood. Since the start of the conflict in October, over 39,000 Palestinians have been killed, with more than 90,000 wounded and thousands missing.
The situation in Gaza remains dire as the conflict continues to escalate, leaving many Palestinians displaced and in danger. International organizations and governments have called for an end to the violence and a peaceful resolution to the conflict.
