On Saturday, at least four civilians were killed in various regions of Ukraine due to Russian shelling, according to officials. In the northeastern Sumy region, a 14-year-old boy was killed and 12 others were wounded in a rocket attack on the town of Hlukhiv near the Russian border. The attack hit residential buildings, an educational institution, a shop, and vehicles, with six of the wounded being children. In Kharkiv region, another frequent target for Russian attacks, one person was killed in a private home near the city of Chuhuiv.
Additionally, in Kherson region in southern Ukraine, two people were killed – one in the administrative center of Kherson and one near the city of Beryslav. Although Kherson region was occupied by Russian forces in the early days of the February 2022 invasion, Ukrainian troops managed to recapture large areas later in the year. Despite this, Russian troops continue to shell Ukrainian-held areas from new positions.
Reuters was unable to independently confirm these accounts and there has been no comment from Russian officials on the incidents. The ongoing violence in Ukraine underscores the urgent need for a peaceful resolution to the conflict to prevent further loss of civilian lives.
