Attorney General takes Nevada fake electors case to state Supreme Court on appeal

The case against six Nevada Republicans who submitted an invalid slate of electoral votes for former President Donald Trump in 2020 is now heading to the Nevada Supreme Court. The charges brought by Attorney General Aaron Ford were dismissed by a Clark County judge in June, citing jurisdictional issues. However, Ford has appealed the decision and is confident that the state will prevail.

The defendants, including Nevada GOP Chairman Michael McDonald and other prominent Republicans, were indicted in December for their role in the fake elector plot. Similar false certification ceremonies took place in other swing states where President Joe Biden won, with charges being brought against individuals involved.

Ford’s office sought the indictments on the grounds that the defendants had violated state law by submitting false certificates to election officials. The case is now expected to be heard by the Nevada Supreme Court, the highest court beyond the U.S. Supreme Court. Ford is determined to bring the defendants to justice and hold them accountable for their actions.

Attorneys representing the defendants did not return requests for comment. The outcome of this case could set a precedent for similar cases in other states where false elector plots were attempted. The appeal to the Supreme Court indicates that the state is determined to pursue justice in this matter and uphold the integrity of the electoral process.
