Israeli airstrikes hit a school in central Gaza, killing dozens of displaced people sheltering there. The strike targeted a Hamas command center but also claimed many innocent lives. Meanwhile, other strikes killed at least 12 more on Saturday. International mediators, including officials from the US, Egypt, and Qatar, are scheduled to meet in Italy to discuss ceasefire negotiations amid the escalating violence.
The Israeli military also ordered the evacuation of a humanitarian zone in Gaza ahead of planned strikes on Khan Younis. The UN agency for Palestinian refugees expressed concerns about forced displacement orders, emphasizing the difficulty faced by those constantly being displaced in the conflict.
The war began with a Hamas assault on southern Israel, resulting in the deaths of 1,200 people, mainly civilians, and the taking of about 250 hostages. Approximately 115 hostages are still in Gaza, with a third believed to be dead. The ongoing violence and humanitarian crisis highlight the urgent need for a ceasefire and a sustainable solution to the conflict in Gaza.
