The Southern Nevada Water Authority has launched a new ad campaign featuring local sports teams to promote water conservation practices, specifically highlighting drip irrigation over traditional sprinklers. The Golden Knights, Las Vegas Aviators, and UNLV athletics department are all involved in celebrating residents who follow the region’s seasonal watering schedules and commit to conservation efforts.
The ads emphasize the importance of using drip irrigation to water trees and plants effectively and efficiently. With Lake Mead providing the majority of Las Vegas’ water supply, the campaign encourages residents to be mindful of their water usage to protect this vital resource.
The Water Smart Landscape Rebate program will reimburse homeowners for converting thirsty grass to more water-efficient landscaping, with incentives decreasing after 2024. The ads showcase the benefits of drip irrigation systems to conserve water and support the rebate program.
The campaign aims to celebrate the efforts of Las Vegas residents in conserving water over the past two decades and inspire further action. Viewers can expect to see the ads on TV and social media starting this month, with each sports team’s commercials airing at different times throughout the year. The partnership with the sports teams, including the Aviators, was a paid collaboration designed to raise awareness and promote water conservation efforts in the region.
