In a rally against antisemitism at UNLV, Nevada Sen. Jacky Rosen co-hosted a roundtable discussion with college students on the rise of antisemitism on college campuses. Six students shared their experiences of antisemitism during the 2023-2024 school year, prompting Rosen and Sen. James Lankford to take action as co-chair of the Senate Bipartisan Task Force for Combating Antisemitism.
According to the Anti-Defamation League, 73 percent of Jewish college students experienced or witnessed prejudice since the school year began, with incidents rising following the Oct. 7 Hamas attack on Israel. To address this, Rosen and Lankford introduced the Countering Antisemitism Act to establish a national coordinator to counter domestic antisemitism and work within the White House.
Recent graduate Luda Isakharov from the University of Oregon expressed gratitude for the bipartisan bill, emphasizing the importance of ensuring Jewish students feel physically safe on their campuses. The bill aims to provide support for students facing challenges related to antisemitism.
The Senate task force, founded in 2019, is dedicated to fighting antisemitism through education and community empowerment. Rosen’s efforts in both the Senate and House Bipartisan Task Force For Combating Antisemitism reflect her commitment to addressing and combating antisemitism in all forms.
