Former President Donald Trump criticized Vice President Kamala Harris’s remarks about the Israel-Gaza war as “disrespectful to Israel.” Trump made this comment after his meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at Mar-a-Lago. He questioned how a person who is Jewish could vote for Harris, referencing her comments after meeting with Netanyahu where she expressed concern for the suffering of Palestinians.
In a new Wall Street Journal poll, Trump and Harris are tied in a two-person matchup, with Trump leading 49% to 47%. This is a significant shift from a previous poll where Trump led Joe Biden by six points. The poll also shows increased support for Harris among nonwhite voters and young voters.
Harris’s support for the “defund the police” movement in a 2020 interview was also highlighted, where she emphasized the need for budget prioritization and forcing change in police departments.
Additionally, Harris reached out to the family of Sonya Massey, a Black woman who was fatally shot by an Illinois sheriff’s deputy, offering her condolences and support for policing reforms following the incident.
Trump announced plans to hold a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, where a gunman injured him during a previous campaign event. Senator Tammy Duckworth criticized Trump for allegedly saying disabled Americans “should just die,” as reported in a new book. JD Vance defended his controversial comments about “childless cat ladies,” stating that he was criticizing the Democratic party for being anti-family.
