Robert F. Kennedy Jr. will now be eligible to appear on Nevada’s election ballot in November after the Secretary of State’s Office approved a petition submitted by his campaign. The campaign collected over 22,000 signatures to add the independent candidate to the ballot. Kennedy’s team had initially submitted a petition without a running mate, which was rejected, but they later resubmitted with the necessary information. The campaign had filed a lawsuit against the Secretary of State, alleging a reinterpretation of ballot access rules, but ultimately, the petition was approved.
The Secretary of State’s Office stated that they had given the Kennedy team sufficient notice regarding the requirements for filing. Independent candidates for President and Vice President in Nevada must file a declaration of candidacy by 5 p.m. on August 9.
Kennedy, who has been actively campaigning for the 2024 general election, had faced obstacles in getting on the ballot in Nevada. However, with the latest approval from the Secretary of State’s Office, he will now be able to compete in the upcoming election.
The Kennedy campaign’s persistence and legal actions have paid off, allowing them to move forward with their efforts to gain support from Nevada voters. With the deadline fast approaching, Kennedy and his team will now focus on their campaign strategy and outreach in the state.
