Six athletes with ties to Northern Nevada are currently competing in the Summer Olympics in Paris. Perris Benegas, a Reed High alum, is competing in freestyle BMX (park), with events including the freestyle BMX qualification and final. Moez Echargui, a Nevada Wolf Pack alum, is representing Tunisia in tennis, facing Great Britain’s Daniel Evans in the men’s singles first round. Gabby Williams, a Reed High alum, is playing for France in women’s basketball, with matchups against Canada, Nigeria, and Australia. Stephanie Rovetti, a Reno High alum, is part of the United States’ Rugby Sevens team, with games against Japan, Brazil, and France. Enkhkhuslen “Huska” Batbayar, who is committed to Nevada, is swimming for Mongolia in the 200-meter freestyle event.
