A recent report from The Nevada Independent has revealed that most reports of election fraud in Nevada do not warrant criminal prosecution. According to the report, the Secretary of State’s Office (SOS) receives numerous complaints of election fraud after each election, but only a small percentage of these complaints lead to criminal prosecutions.
The report found that out of the 122 complaints of election fraud received by the SOS during the 2020 election, only 10 cases resulted in criminal charges. This means that less than 10% of the complaints received actually led to legal action being taken. The most common types of election fraud reported in Nevada include voter registration issues, non-citizen voting, and fraudulent mail-in ballots.
Despite the low number of cases that result in criminal prosecution, the SOS is taking steps to address election fraud in the state. The office has implemented a new system for tracking complaints and is working with law enforcement agencies to investigate reports of fraud. Additionally, the office is urging the public to report any suspected instances of election fraud to help ensure the integrity of the electoral process.
The report comes at a time when election integrity is a hot-button issue across the country, with many states proposing new voting restrictions and measures to combat alleged voter fraud. The findings in Nevada suggest that while reports of election fraud may be common, the majority of these reports do not lead to criminal charges.
