Nevada is currently facing a job vacancy rate of 16%, with over 2,000 jobs that need to be filled. To address this issue, a two-day job fair is being held in Las Vegas, with over 1,400 people signing up and 500 attending on the first day. The fair is offering positions from various state agencies, including the Nevada Gaming Control Board, the Department of Wildlife, and the Department of Public Safety.
According to Jack Robb, the Chief Innovation Officer with the governor’s office, positions are available for workers of all skill levels, ranging from administrative assistants to professional engineers. The recent pay raises that went into effect on July 1st are seen as a key factor driving the high participation in the job fair.
Veterans can attend the fair starting at 10 a.m. tomorrow, with the general public welcome from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Contingent job offers may be made on the spot. The fair, located near Warm Springs and Bermuda, is free and open to everyone.
The event aims to help fill the gap in Nevada’s job market, provide opportunities for job seekers in various fields, and support the state’s efforts to address the ongoing job vacancy rate.
